A NOTE OF THANKS FROM GARY PIKE

I would like to firstly say a big well done to all juniors who attended the matches whether they attended all or just one, well done.
Secondly i would like to say thank you to O.A.S in arranging these matches and to all members who helped on these days especially two of them who are Ivor for all his help in making sure all enjoyed the matches and always ensuring that it's not just the winning it's the taking part and improving that counts, to which i think all have improved, and of course Glyn who made it all happen and also arranged a day out for the juniors (get well soon Glyn).
Lets hope that next year sees all Juniors attending matches and to see it grow in strength.
Well done to all.
Gary

7/11/09 Final Junior Match Round 5 Lake

Four young Anglers turned up for this last round of 5 for 2009.
On a not so easy venue at this time of year  the Island lake was no match for our young Piscators .

From the very start a couple of the anglers started catching small fish & After a little while into the match all four had caught fish, as the day wore on the odd bigger fish started to show which was pleasing to see.

The day was a credit to all who fished & the result was as follows

Result :

1. Mark Sharpless      11.7.0  lbs
2. Ryan Pike                6.13.0 lbs
3. Stephen Gage          5.  7.0 lbs

Special thanks: To all the parents for their support through out the 5 five rounds

Regards Ivor Hughes ( Club Coach )

3/10/09 Junior Match Round 4 New Lake

Six young Anglers turned up for this match the weather was dry, cloudy with a light breeze,

Amongst the fish that had been landed, Alex Nash caught a lovely 13.8 lb carp.

A big well done to all the anglers & many thanks to the parents.

Result :

1. Mark Sharpless       48. 12 lbs

Junior Match Round 3  Island Lake:

5 young anglers turned up to fish this round this included 3 newcomers. The Lake had a lot of cold water go into it, coupled with colder nights made this match harder than expected. As usual they all got stuck in & worked hard for their fish. A big well done to all. Many thanks again to the parents for their support.

Regards Ivor Hughes ( Club Coach ).

1st. Mark Sharpless 15. 01 lbs
2nd John Sharpless 11.14 lbs

SShame on all verbal bullies

Junior Match Round 1 Island Lake.

This year our Fisheries Manager Glyn Reeves has decided to change the format of the junior matches.
This now allows me to walk round during the match & give advice if needed, also Glyn has Introduced Medals to be won on the day, for every round, so now the juniors have more to compete for.

Match report.

Four young anglers turned up on a showery morning for the first of five rounds for the junior cup.

At the all in four hook baits hit the water and the first junior match of 2009/10 season was away.

Walking round as the match progressed, it was pleasing to see individual skills being put into practice.

The lake fished well with all anglers getting bites & producing fish throughout the match.
At the end of the match, the weigh in produced some good weights including a new junior match record from the Island lake.

Special Thanks:

I would like to thank the Parents for their encouragement during and after the match.
Glyn Reeves( Fisheries Manager ) for all his efforts which i think has made the junior matches a lot better.
Finally to the Juniors who fished, well done to all.

Result:

1st. Mark Sharpless 17-0-0 lbs
2nd Ryan Pike 11-10-0 lbs
3rd. Jake Bown 7- 8-0 lbs

Juniors Day Out at the Canal lake  Rusper.

Six Juniors turned out for the days outing sponsored by Ockley Angling Society.
The weather was dry, a little cloudy at times with a slight wind.
All Juniors decided to use the pole for the day fishing with a little groundbait & a selection of hook baits with Maggots being the best.
Bites sometimes had to be worked at but with patience & determination all the juniors caught mainly small fish.

The day was enjoyed by all & special thanks goes to all the parents & the committee members who where there on hand to help out, also last but not least the committee for sponsoring the day tickets for the day.

Well done to all!

Ivor Hughes ( Club Coach)

Hi my name is jake bown (160)
I'd just like to show you one of the fish i caught on my first days fishing at Weavers O.A.S.
I'm yet to fish the new lake but no doubt i will have a go this year because i think Weavers needs some attention. I think we have got good quality fish
and the tidiness makes it even better.
I'm looking forward to entering my first junior match and having many more tight lines.

yours sincerely jake bown aged 12
