STEVE STONE CUP
On Saturday 24th September we had the annual Greenshaw Schools Competition, which has now been renamed The Steve Stone Cup. This is in honour of the schools Geography Teacher & Ockley Angling Society membership secretary Steve Stone.
The weather was chilly first thing, but warmed up to become a superb day for the 17 budding young anglers from years 7 – 10.
As the match went on all anglers were catching fish, some quicker than others. In the years 9/10 category eyes were on Ryan on peg 23 who was catching fish from the start, across the lake from him on peg 8 Talen was also catching well.
In the years 7/8 category, Louis on peg 7 was catching well, with Billy on peg 22 hot on his heels.
At the end of the match, all were following the scales round the lake trying to speculate how well they had done. When the weigh in was finished and all the fish were safely back, we all packed the equipment away and congregated in the car park for the presentations.
I would like to thank everyone who helped from the Ockley Club as they assisted the anglers around the lake.
Thanks to Mr Buddery and our very own Dave Towler for all the pictures during the day and a very big thank you to Mrs Buddery for her organisation at the School, without her taking up the reins this competition would not have carried on.
A big well done to all that fished on the day and I hope to see most of them again next year.
