A great day for Jess - her first time fishing with a pole. (see report in pleasure angling section of the match report page)

Pleasure report from Ivor Hughes about his 11 year old daughter Jess on her first experience of pole fishing.

"Sunday was her 1st time down the lake, and as you saw i mainly sat behind her all day explaining how to use a short pole, as she had never used one before.
Well what a first time it turned out to be, 13 carp biggest about 8lb and 29 geeble  Rudd, Roach a few skimmers and 2 lovely Tench. What more could one ask for, all in all a day i wont forget let alone Jess. The photos are just a few of the geeble she caught."

Praise from Ian Davies

I am a new member to Ockley Angling and I would like to congratulate the management for providing a great fishery!
I have only had the opportunity to fish on 3 occasions, but each time has produced some great sport, the best being on Sunday 10th July when I lost count of the good quality carp I caught, Many fish between 5-10 Lb and two doubles.
Most enjoyable!!

The first tackle tip from Ivor Hughes.

SPLASHER WAGGLER

"A rig i have a lot of fun with, and the action can be so fast that you wont be able to feed between fish at times, it also can be a method that has to be worked at.

if you need any more info on this setup or the method i'll  only be too pleased to answer any questions."

OLD FRIENDS KEEP IN TOUCH : Copy of e-mail received from Paul Roger
Having moved to Lowestoft in Suffolk in December last year I have only been out fishing 6 or 7 times so today Sunday 25th September I went to a lake in Norfolk called Camelot lake some 30 mins from home anyway I decided to fish with my pole I set up with 6LB line and a size 12 hook and fished maggot on pellet
after only  a short wait I hooked a nice carp of about 4LB and a great fight was had not long after I had another on but was smashed up.I then decided to go on my rod with a wagler but as usual when you change tacktets I had no more carp bites but did catch 50 or so perch one of which was 2LB plus.and to end my day I caught an eel which was a good 2ft long and 2 inch's in diameter.any way a great day out.
if any members are ever having a holiday here on the broads and would like to no places to fish ect. I would be more than happy to help

Keith Towler caught this personal best on his first visit as a guest. (above)

Not sure who looks the most surprised; Keith or the fish!

Hi my name is jake bown (160)
I'd just like to show you one of the fish i caught on my first days fishing
at Weavers O.A.S.
I'm yet to fish the new lake but no doubt i will have a go this year because
i think Weavers needs some attention. I think we have got good quality fish
and the tidiness makes it even better.
I'm looking forward to entering my first junior match and having many more
tight lines.
yours sincerely jake bown aged 12
